Summer Safety Tips for Families: Vehicle & Water Safety Reminders from Bison Law Firm

June 5, 2025
Nathan D. Richter

As summer kicks off and families head outdoors, it’s important to prioritize safety, especially around vehicles and water. At Bison Law Firm, we care deeply about the well-being of our community, and we want to help you enjoy the season safely.

Vehicle Safety

Summer means vacations, and vacations mean … ROAD TRIP!!!! Before hitting the road for summer trips or outings, ensure your vehicle is in good working condition. Check your brakes, tires, lights, and fluids. Always secure children in appropriate car seats or booster seats and never leave a child unattended in a parked car as temperatures can become deadly in minutes. Follow all local and state traffic laws, including speed limits and distracted driving regulations, to keep your family and others safe. It is also important to make sure that your vehicle insurance will protect you in case of an crash, especially if you are hit by an uninsured motorist. Check your coverages and make sure you have uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage.

Water Safety

Whether at a pool, lake, or splash pad, constant supervision is crucial. Teach children basic swimming skills and ensure they wear life jackets when boating or near open water. Install barriers around home pools and know CPR in case of emergencies. Many municipalities have specific water safety regulations, including boat safety laws, be sure to follow them.

Injuries can still happen, even when precautions are taken. If you or a loved one is injured due to someone else’s negligence, you may be entitled to compensation. At Bison Law Firm, we fight for families who have been harmed due to careless or reckless behavior. Don’t navigate the legal process alone.

Stay safe and enjoy the season!
