John Alberts

About the Attorney

At this point in my life, most of my time is spent at work helping our clients or chasing my son from soccer game to soccer game. When we are not playing soccer, my wife, Carla, and son, John, enjoy traveling. John’s favorite place to travel is anywhere we can fish. My wife’s favorite place to travel is any place where we can shop! My favorite place to travel is any place where I can spend time with my family.

I am originally from Yukon Oklahoma where my family has lived for almost 100 years. I graduated from Yukon High School in 1983. I attended Oklahoma State University and then law school at Oklahoma City University. Following graduation from law school, I spent time living in Ponca City, Oklahoma working in the Kay County District Attorney’s Office. There, I conducted numerous jury trials, mainly involving crimes against children and women.

Since then, I have handled personal injury cases where we have recovered hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars, for clients. However, I tell people that my most successful verdict was over 25 years ago when I was in the District Attorneys’ office. I helped put a man in prison for 1,600 years for harming four children. He is still there today. I know this because I check every year to make sure.

After leaving the District Attorney’s office, I returned to Yukon and the Oklahoma City area to continue my practice of law. I have worked for a couple of different law firms including Abel Law Firm, where I sharpened my skills about how to successfully handle personal injury cases.

Ultimately, I left the Abel Law Firm and started my own firm where I have worked ever since. Over the course of the last 20 years, I have served four different terms on the Yukon City Council. I have served as the Mayor of Yukon, Oklahoma for six terms, helping our community as we have experienced tremendous growth. I have also served on the Yukon Park board and planning commission.

At this point in my life, I spent the majority of my weeks talking with clients or representing clients in the courtroom. My weekends were spent driving up and down the highway with my family, either heading to a soccer tournament or our favorite fishing hole.

Over the course of my career, I have handled many different personal injury cases ranging from auto accidents involving families hit by large trucks to a couple of friends of mine who were riding a motorcycle down a peaceful highway and were hit by wild deer. I have handled medical malpractice cases where doctors performed a procedure incorrectly, resulting in the patient suffering a brain injury. The life the client knew was needlessly taken from him and ultimately resulted in his death. And I have handled every other type of case in between.

Regardless of the case, the practice of law is my passion. When people ask me why I became a lawyer, I typically tell them because I believe that we should leave the world a better place than we found it. This is done by serving people.

Dealing with personal injury cases takes a special person. The part that I enjoy the most is listening, helping people pick up the pieces, and helping them put their lives back together.
